![]() ![]() I see a lower scoring series with Denver edging Milwaukee and coming down to Denver simply having the better crunch time offense after a mucky game. The Bucks managed only a 112 ortg against mostly worse defenses than Denver in 2021. ![]() Milwaukee will limit Denver too, but limiting a team that managed a 119 playoff Ortg probably still means Denver might manage an 113 Ortg. ![]() If Gordon can just do okay against Giannis, I think the offense in Milwaukee is not going to be good enough to outscore Denver. This series is going to be ugly with Milwaukee's ability to limit Denver and a fairly punchless offense on their own. They matchup well with Gordon, Bruce Brown, and KCP all being positionally matched up with Milwaukee's best scorers. I think Denver easily gives them a really difficult time scoring the ball. Phoenix and Miami were the best defenses they faced, and neither were elite. The Bucks really scraped by in 2021 playing some really weak defenses like the Nets and Hawks. No question this defense would have been a way tougher solve than anything the 2023 Nuggets faced.īut I have questions about the Bucks offense vs. Lopez, Giannis, and PJ is basically your dream Jokic/Gordon stopping team. Their late season trade for PJ Tucker changed that a bit, and in the playoffs the offense (-1.4 rOrtg) was mucky and the defense was amazing and led the playoffs (-6.7 rDrtg). The 2021 Bucks were better on offense and worse on defense in the regular season. The Nuggets had such an easy time with their offense this playoffs in part because they always started with a big size advantage. Aaron Gordon wouldn't have the same small targets to attack with his duck-ins, and the Bucks have extra size and defenders everywhere. Follow Blazers Edge online: Log in or sign up. They have a giant mobile body to put in front of Jokic (Lopez), a massive help defender in Giannis, and a beastly POA defender (Jrue) on the other side of the Murray/Jokic pick & roll. Blazers Edge a Portland Trail Blazers community. I had picked Bucks over Nuggets at the beginning of the playoffs despite the Nuggs being my preseason pick. However, a CJ McCollum pull-up jumper with 12 seconds remaining and a missed free throw by Nikola Jokic sealed the game for Portland.I thought this year's Bucks team would have been the best matchup for the Nuggets.
